Born in Los Angeles, Minka Kelly was born into American rock royalty. Her father, Rick Dufay, was a guitar player in Aerosmith, while her Irish-American mother Maureen Kelly was also involved in show business as a former Vegas showgirl. In addition, Kelly's grandfather Richard Ney, himself an actor, was married to Oscar winning actress Greer Garson. Raised in a single parent home by her mother, Minka Kelly's early life was defined by constant uprooting and moving until her mother settled in Albuqurque, New Mexico.
Her early career saw Kelly appearing in commercials for Old Navy and Johnson & Johnson, as well as print ads for Madge Cosmetics. Her big break came on the small screen when she was cast in NBCs hit drama Friday Night Lights. In order to prepare for the role, Kelly trained with cheerleaders at the University of Texas and Texas State University to portray cheerleader Lyla Garrity in the most convincing light. Movie roles followed, and her first big screen role in The Kingdom saw Kelly cast alongside Hollywood A-Listers such as Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner.
Named as the World's Sexiest Woman by a multitude of publications, Minka Kelly's career and personal life seem to have her on cloud nine. With a role in the heavily anticipated Charlie's Angels television series and a reported wedding to New York Yankee Derek Jeter to plan, Kelly seems to have everything going for her.
