Obama relative gets personal special deal on immigration in Boston court

President Obama's half uncle with his lawyer in court.
President Obama's half uncle with his lawyer in court.

Read this below and weep.

When it comes to President Obama’s half uncle, Onyango “Omar” Obama, breaking the law and fleeing a deportation order seems to be no problem. He gets a waiver and stays legally in the United States.

What does it say to all the millions of undocumented who don’t have a direct relationship to the President and who have never broken a law since arriving here?

Good luck to Mr. Obama Snr. He seems like a reformed man who has done his best in recent years.
But if I was an undocumented person in fear of my livelihood, who had done nothing wrong and just worked hard every day in the U.S., I’d certainly be asking some questions.

Talk about one law for the rich and connected and one law for the poor undocumented!

Incidentally, way back in a 1991 case, Judge Shapiro was not inclined to show any mercy to an alleged IRA man on the run in America. This from November 1991:

"A judge denied an Irishman political asylum and ordered him to leave the United States because of his links to the Irish Republican Army.

"Patrick Henry Stagg isn't eligible for asylum because he ''participated in the persecution of others,'' U.S. Immigration Judge Leonard Shapiro ruled Monday.

"He cited ''murder, torture, maiming and indiscriminate bombing'' attributed to the IRA."

Here’s the report yesterday:

“President Obama’s illegal-alien uncle has been granted the right to remain in the United States after going before a judge today to seek permanent residency and quash a decades-old deportation order.

"Onyango Obama, a Kenyan national who was ordered deported in 1992, appeared before immigration judge Leonard I. Shapiro – the same judge who granted asylum in 2010 to Obama’s sister, Zeituni Onyango – the president's aunt."

Shapiro found Obama to be “of good character,” though he noted Obama’s "2011 drunk driving arrest and the fact that he may have lied about his citizenship status to a federal investigator during questioning in 1984."

Shapiro ruled that "Obama’s ties to the community, his work ethic and the fact that he paid taxes made up for any other misdeeds.

"Obama, the half-brother of President Obama’s late father, had been living quietly in Framingham and working as a liquor-store clerk until the 2011 OUI [Operating Under the Influence] arrest brought his immigration status to light. The OUI case was continued without a finding.”
