Giovanni Trapattoni will cast his eye over some new Irish faces this May after calling up eight uncapped players to his summer training camp in Dublin.

The camp, which takes place in Malahide in Dublin from May 16-21, will see the Irish manager take a look at his options ahead of the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign, which begins in the fall.

On May 22, the more seasoned Irish internationals will head into town as they ready themselves for the friendlies against Paraguay and Algeria scheduled for May 25 and 28 at the RDS.

Among the new faces is Marc Wilson of Portsmouth, who has been putting in sterling performances recently for the FA Cup final/Championship bound side.

Ipswich and former Bohemians keeper Brian Murphy is also called up, as is Everton defender Shane Duffy and Sunderland’s David Meyler.

Birmingham’s Keith Fahey, who played in the derby loss to Aston Villa at the weekend, is also drafted in, as are Wolves pair Stephen Ward and Kevin Foley and Derby’s Paul Green.

'Training camps are useful for preparation as was proven by the one we held prior to our World Cup qualifying campaign," said Trapattoni.

'I look forward to working with these new players and learning firsthand what they have to offer as we begin to prepare for the European Championship qualifiers.'

One team stalwart who may not feature is Shay Given, who injured his shoulder at the weekend. Trapattoni told press that he texted Given to wish him well and is waiting to hear back about the severity of the injury.
