Welcome my single readers

Welcome summer; the greatest season of the year!

Dear MTN,

Hi, I love reading your column every week and I think if you can't help me with my problem then I will be coming in for a consultation to be a part of your service. I have been dating Mary for ten years now. We met in Ireland and when I went home for the holidays and when I came back here she came with me. She lived with me right from the start. We both decided that neither one of us needed to get married. Her parents were divorced, so she never wanted to get married. I was fine with that. She is a beautiful woman and is 10 years older than me. I never cared about her age either. We've had a great 10 year run until recently.

I decided about a month ago that I would like to have a child. I am turning 40 in a couple of months. I realize the obvious that if I want kids I can't have them with Mary. What should I do? Thanks for your help. - Tom

Dear Tom,

Now that things are different than they were 10 years ago, you have to make a major decision. It is very understandable that you are turning 40 and you are now wanting to have a child.

The only advice I can give you is to realize what you want for your future. In ten years from now, do you want to be with Mary, but without children, or do you want to have taken the chance that you broke up with Mary and found someone else and had a child with them. Only you can decide that. Just keep in mind that it is not easy to find love. You have love now. If you break up with Mary it's not like you just snap your fingers and you have a new younger girl that you will fall in love with and have a child with. Best of luck of you in your decision. - MTN
