Mike Scott

Fans of the Waterboys likely missed the one concert they staged on the East Coast for their Appointment with Mr. Yeats disc.

Fear not! As Mike Scott promised me in our last interview, they have just announced a coast to coast North American tour this autumn. This will be the first full North American tour for the band since 2007.

“North America is just about my favorite place in the world to play, and I’m thrilled that this year we’ll play more concerts there than any year of the Waterboys' existence,” says Scott.

“Our fall 2013 tour is the longest Waterboys American tour ever and we’re doing it with an American line-up. Apart from myself and fiddler Steve Wickham, all the band members are Americans based in the New York area, players I handpicked myself. I can't wait to see what kind of a joyful, wild noise we’ll make.”

The line-up includes Jay Barclay (guitar), Malcolm Gold (bass), Daniel Mintseris (keyboards) and Chris Benelli (drums). Dates include September 25 at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, New Jersey, September 27 at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center in Westhampton, Long Island, and the 28th at Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, New Jersey.
