Edward and Peggy O’Connor met during their college years and were married on September 17, 1960.
Peggy was born and raised in the Bronx, New York to Co. Fermanagh natives, Rose Maguire and Joseph Mc Brien.

‘Easy Ed’ O’Connor was born and raised in the Irish Bronx to Irish parents Joseph from Roscommon and Kathleen O’Connor from Kerry.

Shortly after marrying, they moved from an apartment in Hackensack to lovely Oakland, New Jersey where all four of their children were born: Deirdre, Maura, Danny and Sheila.

The O’Connor Clan moved to Fairfield, Conn. in 1975 when Ed was transferred to Greenwich.
Peggy began teaching kindergarten in the Fairfield School System, retiring after 26 years. Peggy remains very busy, working part-time and dedicating herself to many of her favorite hobbies.
She co-hosts the Irish Melodies Radio Program from Fairfield University on Sundays from noon to 2 pm, works as a volunteer at the Quick Center, is a recipient of the Irish Echo “Best of the Bronx” award and recipient of the Connecticut Post Woman of Substance Award, has long been both a member and very involved with several Gaelic American Club and Feile Committees, especially the Scholarship Awards, has organized the Fairfield Travelers, visiting Ireland, Europe, South America, and Australia and is a member of the Father John M. Conlisk Irish Scholarship Program.

Ed has spent his retirement years managing his own investments, attending Mass daily, swimming at the Fairfield University RecPlex, and attending his grandchildren’s games, as well as Fairfield Stags and Fordham Rams games. Ed has been a member of the Gaelic American Club for decades and is a Co-founder of the highly acclaimed Gaelic American Glee Club and organizer of many well-attended concerts both in the U.S. and abroad. He is a proud attendee to the St. Patrick’s Day parade in NYC with his family almost every year of his life and a member of the Fairfield University President’ Circle for 30 years.

Ed bestowed the honor of lifetime presidency of the ‘Fairfield Garden Club.’
