Cara Club and Dorchester Coffee Morning
It was trivia time again at our afternoon tea and social in Brighton as well as at the coffee morning in Dorchester this week. Thanks to Neil Hurley who presented four rounds of questions that kept everyone busy debating the answers. An all men’s team took first prize at the Cara Club while the all women’s team were the winners in Dorchester. The quiz is always a favorite at both venues and we look forward to Neil coming back again in the fall.
A number of our regulars who come to the Dorchester coffee morning are out of action at the moment. We send Michael Bradley, Joe Higgins, Pat Moran and Ken Smyth our best wishes for speedy recoveries and look forward to seeing them back at the coffee mornings soon.

Music for Memory
We had a couple of new faces at the Music for Memory this week as well as a number of our regulars. As always it was a very pleasant few hours of singing, telling stories and reminiscing lead by Maureen McNally. The next Music for Memory will be on July 12th at the Irish Pastoral Centre from 4-6pm. While the group is aimed at providing a musical space for those of us living with memory loss, everyone is welcome.

Happy Father’s Day to our Readers
Father's Day was founded in 1910 by Sonora Smart Dodd, from Spokane, who was also the driving force behind its establishment. Its first celebration was in Spokane, Washington on June 19, 1910. Her father, the Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, was a single parent who reared his six children in Spokane, Washington. After hearing a sermon about Mother's Day in 1909, she told her pastor that fathers should have a similar holiday honoring them. Although she initially suggested June 5, her father's birthday, the pastors didn’t have enough time to prepare their sermons so the celebration was deferred to the third Sunday of June. Father’s Day in Ireland (Lá an Athar in Irish) is celebrated on the same day.
