After further tests on his knee, doctors gave Robbie Keane the all clear on Monday night and the on-loan Celtic striker has joined up with the Irish squad to take on Brazil at the Emirates Stadium in London on Tuesday evening.

While reports coming out of the Irish camp say that coach Trapattoni is delighted to have the country’s top scorer back in the pack, it is not clear whether he will start the game or whether Leon Best will partner Kevin Doyle and Keane will begin the match on the bench.

Whether the knock was not as serious as first thought or Keane applied his own version of Austrian cheese a la Lindsey Vonn, there is no doubt that if he plays, Keane will want to make up for the disappointment of losing the Old Firm with a goal against Brazil in Arsenal’s backyard.
