I wish Rachel Maddow had called me and told me she would be plugging our Web site!

I would have called in to the show; hell, I could have got my hair done and gone downtown to the taping!

Maddow was doing a piece about the abduction of the Times journalist Stephen Farrell and she talked about our role in it.

She used a screenshot from the site and talked about how we broke the story and then unbroke it at the request of the New York Times.

She didn't seem convinced by the need for secrecy, and to be honest, neither am I.

But, I understand the human dilemma inherent in the story.

I posed the question to my JRNL 11 students at Hofstra Wednesday night and they were split too.

Half said it was the right thing to do while the other half said journalism should not censor itself.

What do you think?
