Fox news' Duke Castiglione give GAA a try

FOX-5 New York TV's sports anchor Duke Castiglione, who tells us he's actually more Irish than Italian, has covered all the big American sports, but a great game from Ireland has long been on his radar.

The creation of the new Manhattan Gaels GAA team gave him a great excuse to explore the Gaelic football, trash talk with some players, don the Manhattan Gael's kit and try out a few moves during a recent made-for-TV training season in Central Park.

"I've always heard about Gaelic Football and it was fun to learn more," Castiglione said. "I really enjoyed it!

Cathaoirleach (chairman) of Manhattan Gaels, Greg McIntyre said, "Duke was great and very interested in our club, I think it will open the door for more young men and woman in our city find us and become members."

Duke joined MyFoxNY in June 2007 as sports anchor and can be seen each weekday morning on "Good Day New York."  He also hosts "Sports Extra" on Sundays at 10:30 p.m. He is a recipient of the Associated Press award for "Best Sports Show" and two Black Journalist Awards for his interviews with Lawrence Taylor and Bernard King.
