Gaelic Storm, Newport Celtic Rock Festival

ICC members will be glad to know that Gaelic Storm, the fabulous opening band for its own Irish Festival this past June, will be just down the road in Rhode Island at the Newport Celtic Rock Festival on August 25th. Gaelic Storm steps back into the ring with Chicken Boxer, their ninth album and fifth independent release on their own label, Lost Again Records. With their signature acoustic production, Gaelic Storm blends indie-folk and world grooves with Celtic tradition. Boston Irish Heritage Trail Tours

Every Wednesday and Thursday in August and Saturday, August 18 , 2012. Enjoy a 90-minute, three mile summer’s walk along 300 years of colonial and modern Irish history in Boston. Tours begin at 2 pm from the Boston Common Visitor’s Center. Among the sites is the monument commissioned by the City of Boston in honor of Commodore John Barry of Ballysampson, Co.Wexford, Ireland.
Appointed by President Washington to plan the construction of and command the First U.S. Navy launched in 1798, Commodore Barry is considered to be the “Father” of the U.S. Navy.
