Mike Tyson loves Sligo and hates Oliver Cromwell

Mike Tyson, one of the most successful and feared heavyweight boxers in the world, appeared on Conan O'Brien's late night show on Wednesday to discuss his new show and being 20 days sober.

The boxing champ spoke honestly about his sobriety and then as O'Brien tried to wrap up the interview Tyson interjected with some quite random tandems including how he'd visited "Sligo, Ireland" and how they "hate Oliver Cromwell there". O'Brien politely engaged and then quickly wrapped up the interview.

Tyson even quoted some Shakespeare! Speaking about his sobriety he said "I just wanted to be honest and I don’t care how much success you have or how much love you have, if you’re not honest, it’s never going to last.

"I have 20 days now [of being sober], and this is the guy I want to be.

"I was just very scared about all this stuff, it’s really creepy you know, being sober not ready to handle this stuff and all those yucky feelings start coming up and you want to kill that pain, I’m just so happy that I can be truthful with myself. That’s all you have to be, right? Be true to thyself. Shakespearean stuff."
