 Martin Ferris, Sinn Fein TD for North Kerry-West Limerick is in Boston this week and will be hosting a discussion "Uniting Ireland - the way forward". The Event will take place at upstairs at The Black Rose, 160 State Street in Boston on Wednesday, November 14th at 7:30 pm. Admission is free and all are welcome.
Martin Ferris' biography from the Sinn Fein web site reads:
Martin Ferris was first elected to the Dáil in 2002 when he topped the poll, after spending a number of years on Kerry County and Tralee Town Councils. He was re-elected to the Dáil in 2007 and again in 2011
In the 30th Dáil he was the party’s spokesperson on Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Marine and Natural Resources and Workers Rights.
Martin has done a huge amount of work on the Joint Oireachtas Committees for Agriculture and Food and Marine, Communications and Natural Resources, publishing a report into the future of Farming and Fishing in the West.
Martin was part of the Sinn Féin negotiating team in the lead up to the signing of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998 and he has travelled extensively in support of the peace process and Irish Unity.
Martin lives with his wife Marie in Ardfert village, Kerry and they have six children and eight grandchildren. His daughter Toiréasa is a Sinn Féin Councillor on Tralee Town and Kerry County Council and is the former Mayor of Kerry.
Martin has a keen interest in sport, particularly Gaelic Games, having played with the great Kerry team of the 1970’s.
