Rory McIlroy’s bright start to the year with a top–ten finish in Dubai last weekend has seen him propel up seventh in the world golf ranking list.

Despite the fact the McIlroy has only one career title to his name, the incredible consistency he has shown in his short career has reaped rewards in the world rankings.

Here is a list of the top ten ranked golfers in the world:

1 (1) <1> Tiger Woods United States 13.095
2 (3) <3> Steve Stricker United States 7.913
3 (2) <2> Phil Mickelson United States 7.630
4 (4) <4> Lee Westwood England 7.010
5 (5) <6> Jim Furyk United States 5.405
6 (6) <13> Martin Kaymer Germany 5.360
7 (9) <9> Rory McIlroy N Ireland 5.149
8 (7) <7> Paul Casey England 5.119
9 (10) <8> Henrik Stenson Sweden 5.051
10 (8) <5> Padraig Harrington Ireland 5.031

The latest ranking list sees McIlroy jump up twp places from ninth, while compatriot Padraig Harrington dropped two spots after failing to make the cut at the Northern Trust Open in LA at the weekend.

McIlroy has Germany’s Martin Kaymer and America’s Jim Furyk very much in his sights, and he has already reached his goal of breaking in to the top ten.

Though he is at home getting some treatment for a back complaint he picked up after an intense preseason, McIlroy will soon head over to this side of the Atlantic to play on the US PGA Tour.

I, for one, cannot wait to see how he gets on over here.
