One year after Jimmy McGettrick's passing, his legacy continues to shine brightly on Wollaston Beach in Quincy. Jimmy opened The Beachcomber in 1959 and proudly celebrated it's 50th anniversary in 2009. For 50 plus years, The Beachcomber presented an oasis for musicians of all genres. The venue quickly gained renown for it's Irish music and became a mandatory stop for headline acts when they visited Boston. The Beachcomber continues to offer Irish music several times per week with Pat McGettrick operating the venue, following in the footsteps of his father.

On Thursday, the legendary Wolfe Tones will perform a tribute concert at the Beachcomber "to remember our great friend and yours, Jim Mc Gettrick". One of the world's most popular folk and ballad group, the Dublin balladeers will dedicate the show as a memorial to all that Jimmy and the Beachcomber have contributed to promoting Irish music and culture in Boston.
