Redheads pose for World Record attempt at the Boston Irish Festival
With the warm weather now upon us and the snow shovels thankfully stowed away for the foreseeable future, the Irish festival season is kicking-off with the Boston Irish Festival at the ICC in Canton.

As advertised in this week’s issue of The Irish Emigrant, many folks in Boston will be attending the 3-day festival at the Irish Cultural Center which boasts a strong lineup of musicians including world-famous fiddler Eileen Ivers, as well as the Sean-nós dancing act Atlantic Steps. There are a host of other activities also taking place including an Irish dancing Feis, Redhead world record photo and various sporting activities. This popular festival caters to all ages and is a great way to start the summer season.

The Saltwater festival in Brunswick, Maine is a two-day festival taking place from July 20-21. Although quite a distance from the Boston area, the festival is worthy of the 2 hour trip north to the beautiful Thomas Point Beach resort. Their fantastic music lineup includes The Young Dubliners, The Gothard Sisters, Enter the Haggis and Maeve Gilchrist.

Our Celtic neighbors of Scotland hold their 20th Annual Glasgowlands festival in Florence (Northampton), MA on July 20. The festival starts at 9am and continues until 9pm with Scottish music from Rathkeltair, Prydein, Charlie Zahm, The Bell Family, The Cabeys.

On August 24, the Newport Celtic Rock festival in Rhode Island will host musical favorites from traditional Irish music and contemporary artists alike including Eileen Ivers, The Town Pants, Screaming Orphans and Celtica-Pipes Rock. Boston Irish rockers Dropkick Murphy’s will headline the event for what should be a thundering close to the festival.
