On Thursday Feb 28, four members of the local media went head-to-head in a ‘Pour the Perfect Pint’ competition in Dillon’s on Boylston Street. The event was held in support of the Leary Firefighters Foundation and attendees on the night were encouraged to donate money to the cause.

The Leary Firefighters Foundation (LFF), which provides funding and equipment to fire departments throughout the United States, was founded after the tragic Worcester Warehouse fire in 1999 where six firefighters lost their lives. Actor/comedian Denis Leary, who lost his cousin Jerry Lucey and childhood friend Tommy Spencer in the fire, set up the foundation which has gone on to raise over $2.5 million.

Leary’s cousin Noreen Lucey (sister of Jerry Lucey) and local Diageo representatives judged the contestants based on their pouring technique and presentation. Morgan Rousseau (pictured) of Metro Boston emerged as winner with $2000 being donated to the LFF in her name. The money will provide funding and resources to obtain the best available equipment, technology and training.

Throughout the St Patrick’s day season, Guinness are encouraging consumers to get involved in their “$100,000 Pour”, a live Guinness pint mosaic that will be comprised of consumer pledges, each of which represents $1 of the $100,000 donation that Guinness has committed to the LFF. To support the LFF and be a part of the $100,000 Pour, adult Guinness fans can pledge by texting “GUINNESS” to 878787.
