GAA clubs across Ireland are losing 250 players a month to emigration. Over the last couple of years GAA clubs in London and New York were struggling to field teams but now they are seeing a huge surge in members.

The number of players who have asked to transfer from Irish clubs to GAA clubs overseas in 2010 jumped by 45 percent. There were 960 applications made last year which is up 300 on the numbers who applied in 2008.

According to the Sunday Business Post Ireland’s GAA has lost 2,290 players since 2008.
