Emerald Society honors Irishman and Irishwoman of the year at annual pub night

The Union County Emerald Society is celebrating its 32nd anniversary with its annual Pub Night at 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, at the Kenilworth Veterans Center located at 33 South 21st Street in Kenilworth, NJ 07033.

The fraternal organization of law enforcement officers and firefighters of Irish decent will honor Barry O’Donovan, proprietor of the Kilkenny House Restaurant and Pub in Cranford, as Irishman of the Year and Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr as Irishwoman of the Year.

Irish entertainment will be provided by the Eamonn Ryan Band. Tickets include beer, wine, soda and snacks and cost $25.

The Union County Emerald Society has deep roots in the communities of Union County and strives to celebrate Irish heritage and culture while also supporting important causes including Project Children and the Union County Baseball League.
