Irish Organizations throughout New England toasted Consul General of Ireland Michael Lonergan, his family, and friends last Friday for his farewell reception at the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton.

Parties from many Irish organizations throughout Boston were well represented as they paid tribute to Mr. Lonergan’s successes and service to the Irish community in Boston throughout the years.

Mr. Lonergan took to the podium to thank the Boston area organizations for their warm welcome and show of support to him during his time as Consul General.

ICC Executive Director Mary McTigue and President Thomas Gallagher extended their thanks and well wishes on behalf of the ICC Board and Staff and representatives from the Irish Pastoral Centre and the Eire Society conveyed their gratitude as well.

Attendees were also encouraged to sign a guestbook with their expressions of thanks and memories of Mr. Lonergan’s time in Boston.

Best of luck to you, Mr. Lonergan, as you embark on the next phase of your career. We hope you will come back to visit the Boston community and the Irish Cultural Centre many times!
