Ah well. Conan O'Brien stole my heart last night with his insane Irish jig with Robin Williams.

Pity it's too late. Like many other people I only started watching Conan O'Brien the past few nights to see what all the fuss was about.

"You're a good man Conan O'Brien, You're Irish aren't you," says Williams in a fake Irish accent, before launching into a hysterical much-bleeped "Irish lament" for Conan.

Howling like many an Irishman after a few too many drinks at the bar, Williams erupts from his seat and the pair of them go high-stepping across the stage amid roars from the audience.

It's the funniest thing I've seen on TV in years. And certain people at NBC must be kicking themselves for losing that screwball talent.

Well, whatever's going to work on TV for the next 10 years isn't going to be the same-old same-old late night TV that Jay Leno represents.

And let's face it, there's no way Leno would attempt anything like last night's stunt.

As anyone who's ever attended an Irish wedding knows, you need to be fighting fit to do even five minutes of Irish dancing.

And let's not even talk about the mouse Bugatti and Rolling Stones...
