This past Saturday, we welcomed our second Clanrye Wider Horizons group of 2013 to Boston. There was great excitement as the group arrived at Logan Airport
. Afterwards the group were treated to a quick introduction to Boston
and brought to meet their host families at a small get together hosted by the IIIC
“They are always so nervous meeting their host families for the first time but within minutes of meeting each other, they become comfortable and by the time they leave the IIIC
that same day with their new families, it is like they are old friends. It really is remarkable and touching to watch”, notes IIIC
Director of Learning Exchange Programs Ann-Marie Byrne who traveled to Newry in June to meet the group during their pre-departure training.
The Wider Horizons Program

The incoming group are coming through the organization Clanrye Group based in Newry and the group hail from Counties Down, Armagh, Louth and the surrounding areas. With their 2 day orientation in full swing, they are now eager to start their work placements, where they will volunteer full time 4 days a week for the duration of their 6 week stay. We welcome back Kieran Taggart who will help support and supervise the group during their stay in the U.S! We extend a warm welcome to all the group, and look forward to working with you over the next few weeks!
