In recent years, nonprofit organizations across the country have faced significant challenges fundraising while at the same time providing crucial front line services to people in need. The recession has contributed to cutbacks from donors and foundations. The IPC faces similar challenges and recently a number of people from the Irish community approached the IPC Chaplain, Fr. John McCarthy, with regard to an effort to raise funds to support the IPC’s frontline services. A community support committee has been formed and many of the members have availed of the IPC services since arriving in the US.

“We’re delighted to see the enthusiasm of those involved for the work of the IPC,” said Fr. McCarthy, “the volume of our everyday work impacts the amount of time staff can give to fundraising, so it’s great to see the community respond in such a positive way. Many of these young immigrants have been helped by us in one way or another, and they see this as their own way of giving back to the IPC.”

The group of mostly young Irish immigrants has proposed to run a summertime disco at Florian Hall in Dorchester on July 20th from 7 pm to midnight. Music from the 70s will be played from 7-8pm, 1980s music from 8-9pm, music from the 90s from 9-10 pm, and from ten to midnight hits from the past twelve years.

There will be a raffle and tickets can be purchased on the evening. Generous donors have come forward and raffle prizes include a vacation cruise for two to the Bahamas, an electric scooter, and a flat screen television. Admission tickets are $20.00.

We look forward to a great evening and invite readers to attend and support the fundraiser. For more information and tickets, call Jack (617) 285-5113 or Colleen (857) 939-0144.
