The inspirational and charismatic words of Sr. Consilio are the stuff of legend. She describe how she gave troubled men a place to stay in the 'Dairy' attached to her convent, 45 years ago, and how this initial effort has grown to a national network of treatment facilities - in the South and North of Ireland.
At a presentation while in Boston, Sr. Consilio explained that Cuan Mhuire's approach is to help the addicted deal with the underlying emotional pain that they bear, instead of treating just the addictive behavior. This approach has proven successful for all types of substance abuse and other addictions such as gambling. The treatment regiment focus on compassion and emphasizes rebuilding confidence through work ethic and training opportunities
The Boston Friends of Cuan Mhuire will be spearheaded by John Joe Somers with support from Justin McCarthy (justinmccarthy2010@gmail.com) and Sean Moynihan (smoynihan@themoynihangroup.com). Please reach out to one of these people for information on how you can help this worthy effort.
