Arizona Gov Jan Brewer signs immigration bill into law

The federal government would appear to be on a collision course with the state of Arizona after Gov. Jan Brewer signed the controversial bill into law.

The new bill will force legal immigrants to carry their papers on them at all times and allow police to question them if they are suspected of being illegal immigrants.

Speaking today at a naturalization ceremony for some 24 members of the U.S. military, President Barack Obama blasted the legislation as "unfair" and "misguided."

"If we continue to fail to act at the federal level, we will continue to see misguided efforts opening up around the country," he said.

Apart from anything else, (and there are multiple reasons to be outraged at this bill) forcing people to carry their immigration papers is downright stupid.

Letters of parole, green cards and other paperwork are just too valuable to be toted round on a daily basis.
