Osama Bin Laden was shot through the left eye and his DNA was matched with brain tissue of that of his sister who died a few years ago in a Boston hospital according to a Washington source.

The body was later buried from an aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea according to the same source.

The demise of Osama Bin Laden is being seen in the Irish American community in New York as a massive opportunity for closure.

Up to 40 per cent of the firemen and police officers who died on the day were of Irish American background.

It is also a huge boost for Irish American John Brennan Chief Counter Terrorism advisor to President Obama who was one of the key people in the room to make the decision to storm the Bin Laden redoubt.
