One Direction and the cast of "Anchorman 2" on "SNL"

The actor met the British boy band - made up of Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne - on an episode of 'Saturday Night Live' and took the opportunity to get a photo of the guys to give to his super-fan daughter Elisabeth Anne.

During an interview with Jay Leno on 'The Tonight Show', Steve Carell revealed: "I really scored big with my daughter. I was on 'SNL' when Paul Rudd hosted and One Direction was the musical guest. I got One Direction to sign one of their photographs, the whole band ... all the guys. The whole band signed the photo for my daughter. That was in the stocking so that was a big, big win."

Carell's daughter wasn't the only member of the family delighted with their Christmas gift.

The 51-year-old actor received a paddleboard from his actress wife Nancy which he was thrilled with.
He said: "I got a paddleboard. My wife bought me a stand up paddleboard. It's essentially a really long surfboard that you stand up and you paddle round on."

The 'Hope Springs' star - who also has a nine-year-old son, John, with Nancy - then joked: "It's supposed to be great for the upper body and the core. I had a bad core. No I just thought it would be good exercise and fun!"
