Niall Horan and Ronnie Woods

The Rolling Stones legend, who offered to personally teach the One Direction singer some of his skills for the young star's birthday in September, has admitted they haven't been able to spend any time together due to their busy schedules.

Speaking at The Sun's 2013 Military Awards in London, the 66-year-old rocker said: "I know, he's worse than I am ... He's always out on the road."

But Ronnie insisted he has no plans to renege on his offer and will meet up with Niall as soon as they're both free.

He said: "Oh yeah, I'll definitely do it."

A source previously revealed Niall, 20, was "made up" after Ronnie promised to help him improve his guitar skills.

The British star also offered up some advice for the 'Story Of My Life' singer and his bandmates, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne.

He said: "Just don't argue amongst yourselves, try and stay together!"

Ronnie was one of several celebrity guests at The Millies, which recognize the excellence and sacrifice made by Britain's Armed Forces, hosted by Phillip Schofield at the National Maritime Museum, and was happy to show his support.

He said: "I'm always busy at this time of year normally and they've always asked me for many years to present and this year I can do it. It's nice to pay something back to the military."

Other guests at the event included Tom Hardy, Katie Piper, Joe Essex, Kian Egan, Gordon Ramsay, Ricky Gervais, Jimmy Carr and Holly Willoughby.
