Robert Pattinson is set to play tragic Kurt Cobain in an upcoming biopic about the Nirvana front man.

Scarlett Johansson will play Cobain's troubled wife Courtney Love.

The role looks like a good move for the 23-year-old "Twilight" star who says he's always thought of himself as a musician rather than an actor.

Love says RPatz is her number one choice to play Cobain, who was just 27 when he shot himself in the head in 1994.

And a source said Pattinson had seriously impressed Love with his impeccable English manners.

"Robert has been calling and emailing her non-stop. She has been a bit wound up by his manners, but he is her number one choice to play Kurt," the source said.

Love has been given a key role in the Universal Pictures production and is now in constant contact with Pattinson (oh lucky woman).

"She has agreed to the film on condition that she gets to decide the main aspects of the project including director, casting, screenplay and music," the source said.

Director David Fincher has taken on the project which has the working title “All Apologies”. Fincher has helmed films such as “Fight Club”, “Se7en” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”.

This is the first time Love has agreed to a project about her tormented partner.

She turned down Sony Pictures some years back when they suggested Zac Efron to play Kurt Cobain.
