Despite pulling off a 'twerking' routine for the cameras at the Teen Choice Awards last month, the One Direction singer hit out at people who perform the controversial dance move - which sees a person shake their hips and butt in an up-and-down bouncing motion - saying it "promotes promiscuity" among young girls.

He told US film listings website Moviefone: "I think it's quite inappropriate. Especially for the age groups that it's aimed at.
"I think it's, you know, promoting promiscuity."

Harry also recently defended Miley Cyrus' 'twerk'-heavy performance at the MTV Video Music Awards - in which she grinded alongside Robin Thicke in a nude-coloured latex bikini during a rendition of his 'Blurred Lines' hit - and joked her racy routine was "family friendly".

When asked his opinion about her antics, he quipped: "Very reserved.

"She's quite shy and I think it's time she came out of her shell.
"[It was] family friendly. You could watch it with your kids and your grandma."

The 19-year-old hunk's bandmate Liam Payne also made light of 20-year-old Miley's 'twerking' performance, describing it as "cute", while Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson didn't see what the fuss was about.

Niall said: "I don't get why everyone is sulking about her."

Louis added: "I was shocked at how much coverage it got and I think she was shocked. I don't think she even knew she'd get that much attention from it."
