One Direction wearing Irish jerseys

Niall Horan is trying to convince his One Direction band mates that Irish sausages are the best in the world.

This week the British/Irish boy band announced their first ever stadium tour, which includes playing in front of 80,000 adoring Irish fans in Croke Park on May 24 next year.

Liam Payne said he cannot wait for the tour to kick off so they can return to Ireland mostly because he wants to sample some local sausages.

“When we first got together as a band all that Niall would tell us about Ireland is that Irish sausages are the best,” Payne said.

“The best thing to come out of Ireland is Irish sausages — but they have to be Clonakilty sausages,” Horan advised.

Horan tried to convince Louis that Irish sausages were “the best in the world”, but he was having none of it.

Thompson said, "I just thought they tasted like normal sausages and they were just called Irish sausages."

Horan told the Daily Star he is very excited to get the chance to play Crow Park stadium.

“It will be the first time at Croker.

“I can’t wait — I’m really excited about it,” he said.

“From the start of our career, the Irish fans have been fantastic to us and it means so much to us.

“It’s something I’ve always dreamed of being able to do, to be able to follow in the footsteps of bands like Westlife.

“It really will be the biggest moment in our career so far.”
