The late pop star Michael Jackson

Stars sent their regards to the 'Thriller' star - who died of acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009 - with many posting photos and their reminiscences of the singer.

Mariah posted a picture of her with Michael and a caption reading: "Remembering Michael Jackson #KingOfPop #tbt (sic)".

Justin - who appeared on a recently leaked remix of a little known track by the 'Beat It' star called 'Slave To The Rhythm' - wrote: "Happy birthday MJ. #thegreatest #RIP(sic)"

Rapper P Diddy paid his regards, tweeting: "Happy Birthday to the greatest performer of all-time Michael Jackson!!! There's only one KING!! (sic)."

Film director Spike Lee sent his well wishes alongside a poem on Instagram, writing: "HAPPY BORN DAY, MICHAEL JOSEPH JACKSON! Remember the Time - Poem by Lemon Andersen... (sic)."

Meanwhile producer Timbaland chose yesterday to announce he is working on new material to be released posthumously by the singer, including a track called 'Chicago'.

He said in a video posted online: "[Producer] L.A. Reid came to my house and said 'I've got something big I want to do.' I can tell you the first single's going to be this song called 'Chicago,' but I'm going to set it up right.

"We talked on the phone. It's hard to bring anything out because now all you're going to hear is his voice over my music and now it's my turn. Watch me go."
