One Direction won their first BRIT Award at the annual ceremony last year and part of the heart throb's outfit is being sold on eBay to raise money for Believe In Magic, a charity which helps bring joy to terminally ill children.

The item - which currently has a top bid of £660 - is part of the '50 celebrities, 50 items, 50 charities' auction featuring offers from stars like Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Elton John.

Laura Wilkinson-Rea, a spokesman for eBay, said: "This is a real milestone for eBay for Charity.

"Our programme supports over 7,500 UK based charities and since its launch in 2006 has enabled eBay shoppers to bid on some truly unique items and experiences.

"What better way to celebrate than to raise even more money for some fantastic charities and shine a spotlight on how easy it is to give to charity on eBay.

"We would like to thank everyone who has used the eBay for Charity program to connect with a cause close to their heart."

'Downton Abbey' actor Hugh Bonneville - who plays Robert Crawley in the period drama - has also joined the cause, donating a book signed by the cast to raise money for international health charity Merlin.

He added: "I've been a proud patron of Merlin for nearly a decade ... Watching Merlin's health workers is uplifting.

"They operate in places other aid agencies shy away from and they succeed when failure looks more likely. Merlin staff are changing lives. Every day."
