Golden Globes hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler

Golden Globes hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were a hit among the star guests at the prestigious awards show.

The comediennes presented the annual event - following two years of British Ricky Gervais in the anchoring role - and they impressed everyone with their hosting skills as they managed to make the audience laugh without making them feel uncomfortable.

'Modern Family' star Julie Bowen said: "I loved, loved them. After two years of Ricky Gervais - I mean, Ricky makes you nervous because you never know who is next to fall under his sharp-tongued hatchet. But those girls were so funny and I worship them. And they proved that you can be drop dead gorgeous and completely funny, and one day I want to be just like them."

'Homeland' star Navid Negahban was also impressed with Tina and Amy especially when they poked fun at Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow.

When introducing director Kathryn's latest film, 'Zero Dark Thirty' - about a CIA agent tracking terrorist Osama Bin Laden - Amy joked the filmmaker understood torture because "she spent three years married to James Cameron."

And Navid was certainly impressed, saying: "Those girls were awesome. My favourite joke was the Kathryn Bigelow (and James Cameron) joke. I was like, 'Oh my.' "

Kathryn was married to 'Terminator' and 'Avatar' director James - who is notoriously difficult to work with - from 1989 to 1991.
