George Clooney and Cristiano Ronaldo may be called as witnesses in the defense of Silvio Berlusconi when he stands trial for charges related to underage prostitution.
George Clooney’s Italian girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis has already informed investigators that neither she nor the Hollywood actor attended a dinner at Berlusconi’s mansion.
Lawyers for the Italian Prime Minister have submitted a list of 78 witnesses that intend to call for the trial which is due to begin on April 6.
Other witnesses to be called include Karima El Mahroug, also known as Ruby, a 17-year-old Moroccan runaway who allegedly attended sex parties hosted by the Prime Minister.
Prosecutors have also released their own list of 132 witnesses, which also includes the Moroccan teenager.
Defence lawyers intend to grill Mahroug who claimes that Clooney was present at a dinner she attended at the Prime Minister's home.
Mahroug has also claimed that she was paid for sex by footballer Ronaldo.
