Sarah Palin shoots straight in Bill O'Reilly debut on Fox News

Sarah Palin came out swinging on Bill O'Reilly last night - and for the first time I could see what this woman has that voters find so attractive.

She swore, she let loose, she nailed some enemies. She came across as a real person, not a polished politician, but a person who, until very recently, was skinning polar bears or whatever it is they do in the wilds of Alaska.

Sarah Palin is a frontier woman, not the finished object by any means, not the smooth or manufactured product like many on the talk show circuit, but like Annie Oakley she can shoot straight.

In Bill O'Reilly she had the perfect foil. O'Reilly loaded the gun and Sarah shot it. The media? she accused "political establishment reporters" of trying to "gin up controversy and spin up gossip. The rest of America doesn't care about that kind of crap," she fired.

Nice one. How many people actually feel that way about the press but would never put it so bluntly in case the press bites back? Try every mainstream politician.

President Obama? "There is an obvious disconnect between President Obama and the White House, what they are doing to our economy and what they are doing in terms of not allowing Americans to feel as safe as we had felt."

What she is saying is true for many Americans who do feel that disconnect and sense it every day of their lives.

Reports that she didn't know the difference between North and South Korea? A "bunch of B.S. from Schmidt and some of those." Schmidt is Steve Scmidt, former handler for John McCain and Palin's sworn enemy. You have to love her honesty.

I found myself liking Palin and her line of attack. She still has a certain innocence about her - she is still very new on the political stage and it comes across as not manufactured or affected.

Sure, she may be a bitch on wheels for all I know, but I know she makes for compelling viewing.

She was lucky she made her Fox debut with O'Reilly. There is no one better to ease a newcomer through those awkward moments. I think they would make an amazing duo together on talk TV.

Would I want her as my Vice President? Probably not, but as talk show host and straight shooter she's great.

I think many have made statements in the political arena that they wished they hadn't or were not sure how to answer. For instance our president (who I do NOT think is stupid) pointing out those veterans in the audience who served their country on MEMORIAL DAY! But if we dare say anything against him we are either racist or right wing nut jobs. Calling people stupid is just that, STUPID. The media and many liberals have been out to attack Palin from the moment she stepped on the stage. I read about her life months before she was nominated and her poll numbers as a governor (which to me takes a few smart cells) were higher than most of the others. So being a 2 term mayor and then governor counts for nothing? Just like Obama's 150 days in the Senate should count for nothing then?

Our lawmakers are destroying by making "back room deals" to force us to have a health care system with over 2,000 pages of text, mean while they gave themselves raises, enjoy a custom made health care system for themselves and a pension plan after serving just one term in office --- and the lists goes on and on. Most U.S. tax payers are against what they are doing and they refuse to represent those who voted for them!!!

Sorry Patrick, but you are trying to defend the indefensible, and you are coming off a fool. Glen Beck asked her who her favorite founding fathers were and she replied !!!!!ALL OF THEM!!!!! Gee where have I heard that before.

Felicia she didn't know what the Bush doctrine was, precisely the vehicle used to wage war on countries with minimal involvement or none what soever in the case of Iraq and continuing breaching of international law with the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Thats why shes stupid.

Felicia maybe stupid isn't the right word for Sarah Palin...how about willfully ignorant? It isn't the democrats giving interviews on 60 minutes discussing her lack of smarts it is the Republican presidential consultant who helped pick her. Go online and read her interviews...read them. They are available unedited to anyone interested. You may not want to believe that she is stupid but she is clearly under-informed and willful. Given the opportunities that she has been given that alone makes her stupid

"We are going to progress forward" Too all you Palin supporters, give me something I can take to the bank, "she has common sense" give me an example of her common sense. Don't parrot her talking points. "I am going to take on the establishment" Who is the establishment, and how is she going to take them on? Sadly she doesn't know and neither do you. There just talking points to rile up the unwashed masses.

And look what we have instead a heartbeat away from the presidency, BIDEN!!! This woman is not a blue blood elitist like the Hollywood/Washington crowd. She can go beyond the social etiquette and really talk about life. She is not afraid of the misogynists or the God haters. I'd rather have her on my side then the Katie Courics, Joy Behars or Michelle Obamas of this country. To call someone stupid shows your limited intelligence. Where's the absolute proof she is stupid?

She makes for compelling viewing if you enjoy watching someone with a limited intellect try to seem to be relevant. Palin is anything but a straight shooter. She is a liar and has been shown as such on a number of occasions. I believe she knows nothing and is living on her looks and the deep dislike some feel for Obama. If you think that Obama isn't handling the job of President well just imagine this numbskull trying to do it. "In over her head" wouldn't come close to describing the mess. To compare Palin's complete lack of experience and intelligence to Obama is a sign that you aren't paying attention and that you get your news from Fox. Anyone with a love of our blessed USA would never put it in jeopardy by even considering an airhead like Palin to run it. It would place us in a unimaginably dangerous spot. Shame on McCain for putting her in a position to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency. Some patriot! No Irishman or woman has respect for someone so poorly schooled in the language and the word.

First of all, the allegation wasn't that Sarah Palin didn't know the difference between North and South Korea. It was that she didn't understand WHY there was a North and South Korea. I am continually amazed that anyone has any respect for her. So she can curse on cable. So can Carrottop. It doesn't mean I believe he has anything of import to say. I also can't understand how you can call her a straight shooter. Has she ever admitted one fault or mistake? She even claimed that the investigation into the Alaska Highway Patrol case went in favor of her. One reading of the results show that either she's delusional or just a liar with a wink. When has she done anything that would benefit anyone or thing but herself? She couldn't even last an entire term as governor of a state with a population smaller than Akron. No. this is definitely not the person we need anywhere near impressionable people. Not only does she not have any knowledge, what she has she's made up. Which, I guess, is why she's on the same network as Glenn Beck.(not that I feel strongly about it)

Palin is a Know-Nothing, is not a serious person and has zero chance of being elected to national office in the US. She probably does not know the difference between the North and the South of Ireland just as she did not understand the historical origins of the partition of Korea. The low-information voters who find her attractive will never be enough to elect her. She makes 43 seem like a heavyweight. She's pure entertainment, ideal for Fox "News" and a perfect typical Murdoch muppet. Follow the money - that's what she is in it for now. The political thing is just the vehicle. Once she got on that national stage and saw the biz-ops in the lower 48, it was bye-bye Alaska. And to think she was close to being President. Truly frightening!
