Irish band U2’s frontman Bono, who previously joined forces with Tony Bennett on his “Duets” album in 2006, is now adding his voice to Voices Against Violence, a campaign supporting common sense gun laws.

The campaign initiated by the beloved crooner Tony Bennett, Danny Bennett (his son and manager) and the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, has already generated over 30,000 phone calls from Americans to Congress since its inception in April 2013.

Now the Irish musician Bono has recorded an audio message for their My Voice campaign.

Tony Bennett commented, "With over 5,000 deaths attributed to gun violence in just the six months since the terrible Newtown massacre, I am truly appreciative that Bono has lent his voice to our efforts - he is an  extraordinary humanitarian.”

Bono joins a long list of supporters including Paul McCartney, Elton John, Snoop Lion, Alec Baldwin, Jim Carrey, KD Lang, Sting, Rachael Ray, Juanes, Gloria Estefan, Josh Groban, Romeo Santos, Rosie O'Donnell, Alejandro Sanz, Vicentico, Ana Carolina, and Mia Farrow.

Their website, VoicesAgainstViolence.com, prompts the public to text MY Voice to 877877 or to “call 1-888-997-3976. Tell a Senator who ignored the voice of the people to put innocent lives above politics.”

The public then leave this message with a Senator “Hello, my name is __________, and I support common sense laws that will save lives by keeping guns out of the wrong hands and insist that you represent the majority of Americans who feel the same.”

The Voice Against Violence campaign tells the public, “Don’t be nervous. Remember they work for you.”

Danny Bennett, the singer's son and longtime manager and co-founder of the campaign, said, “Voices Against Violence will continue to give the American public, the majority of whom support common sense gun laws, to have a way to make their voices heard and to make sure Congress is listening and taking action."

“We will only see real change in this country if the American public continues to make their voices heard in Congress. With more than 30,000 calls generated around the debate in the Senate in April, we know that when provided with a way to reach key leaders, the American public respond in farce," said Dan Gross, President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

"Our resolve has not wavered in the past six months, and neither has the passion demonstrated by the American people. We thank Bono for his participation in this vitally important part of our ongoing campaign to make meaningful change to our gun laws."
