Ireland's preparations for the make or break World Cup double header against Sweden and Austria have been rocked by another row between manager Giovanni Trapattoni and a disgruntled player.

Millwall striker Andy Keogh took to Twitter to have a pop at the Italian on Monday after he was left out of the 29 man provisional squad for the games that will decide Ireland’s World Cup qualification.

Keogh, who traveled to America for the U.S. Cup this summer just weeks after the birth of his child, is annoyed at the lack of communication from Trapattoni and the FAI.

Wolves striker Kevin Doyle has also been omitted from the squad by Trapattoni but has yet to comment.

The Keogh outburst follows similar disagreements between Trapattoni and Andy Reid, Anthony Stokes, Darron Gibson and Kevin Foley.

Keogh tweeted, “Not even in the provisional squad, gutted, oh well might get called in last minute! #noloyalty.”

He then later clarified his tweet by saying, “Am unhappy at not receiving notice about being left out of the squad.

“Not moaning about being left out just gutted, lot of quality in the squad, maybe after Oman and NY a text or phone call would of been courteous!!”

Trapattoni called in Keogh as a late addition for the friendly against Wales a fortnight ago when the striker appeared as a second half substitute.

Paddy Madden, who made his debut off the bench that night, has retained his place in the squad but Keogh has been cast aside.
The Keogh dispute has overshadowed Trapattoni’s decision to recall fit again Richard Dunne after he watched the big defender play for new club QPR against Bolton on Saturday.

Dunne is now set to start against Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the Swedes, just a month after Trapattoni publicly suggested he might never play for his country again.

“I saw Richard play on Saturday. He wasn’t that busy but he is in good physical condition and I think he can be important for us,” the manager said.

“I said that it would be necessary for him to play a few games after surgery. He had no club and it was important to see what condition he was in when he started to play.

“I saw that he was well on Saturday. He is physically good and he will have another game before he joins us and then we will have the possibility to see him in training and assess him over the course of the week.

“In the last game, John O’Shea and Ciaran Clark played well and we also have Darren O’Dea so we have possibilities. But, against the players Sweden have, who are strong and tall, he could be important because he is so strong in the air.”

Dunne may not be asked to play twice in five days, however, with Ireland traveling to Vienna after the Aviva clash with Sweden.
Trap added, “It is usual in these situations that some players cannot immediately recover their energy to play four days later, and remember we are playing on September 6 and 10.

“Austria have different strikers. One is big and the other is quick compared to Sweden who have Ibrahimovic and Johan Elmander.
“We can decide after the game and see whether Richard has managed an hour or 90 minutes against Sweden.”

Norwich midfielder Anthony Pilkington, Spartak Moscow winger Aiden McGeady, Millwall ‘keeper David Forde and Leicester defender Sean St. Ledger are all included in the squad despite doubts over their fitness.

West Ham’s Joey O’Brien has been recalled after he was left out for the Wales friendly.

Ireland’s World Cup squad: Forde, Westwood, Randolph, O’Shea, O’Brien, St. Ledger, Wilson, Coleman, Kelly, O’Dea, Clark, Dunne, McShane, Whelan, McCarthy, Green, Hendrick, McGeady, Pilkington, McClean, Brady, Meyler, Hoolahan, Long, Keane, Sammon, Walters, Madden, Cox.
