Another tourist has been rescued in Donegal – less than a fortnight after American visitor Kelly Jones was found safe and well after a five day ordeal.

Police have yet to name the 24-year-old tourist who went missing around Slieve League at 9pm on Saturday night.

The woman was camping in the area with her partner and had arranged to meet him at a local car park in Bunbeg.

When she failed to arrive, the Donegal Mountain Rescue service was alerted and a full scale search launched which also involved the Sligo Mountain Rescue team and the Killybegs Coastguard.

The Killybegs Coastguard eventually located the woman after a three hour search when they spotted the light from her mobile phone.

“She was very wet, cold and disorientated after wrapping herself in her sleeping bag,” said Brian Murray from the Donegal Mountain Rescue team.

“There was no mobile phone signal in the area and she was lucky that the coastguard service managed to see the light from her phone.

“She was also carrying a slight ankle injury which she had picked up. She had been heading for the lights of Teelin and just became disorientated.”

The woman was re-united with her partner after treatment on site and did not require hospitalization.
