Bankrupt businessman Sean Quinn has gone back to his roots and made a rare public appearance at a GAA match.
The former billionaire hasn’t been seen in public since his release from Mountjoy jail in early January.
But Quinn, once Ireland’s richest man, was back in the spotlight when he attended Fermanagh’s National Football League clash with Monaghan on Saturday night.
There was disappointment for the 65-year-old failed businessman however as his beloved Fermanagh lost by two points to their Ulster rivals.
Friends at the game have told the Irish Independent that the ongoing legal battle with the former Anglo Irish Bank has ‘taken its toll’ on Quinn.
But he was in good spirits at the game according to one spectator.
The fan told the Irish Independent: “He appeared to be in good form. He was laughing and chatting away and people were going up to him all the time to shake his hand.”
The Quinn family recently began a new High Court case in an effort to be allowed to continue their case following new legislation liquidating IBRC.
The laws passed by the Irish parliament put a stay on all existing legal actions against the former Anglo Irish Bank.
