Sarah Palin is finished with courting the media, who are continually sniping that her political career is likewise finished.

But Palin unleashed a new level of contempt this week by billing them all as 'a--clowns.'

According to the New York Daily News, hours after the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner ended on Saturday night, Palin took to Twitter to unleash a torrent of profanity laced invective on the black-tie party.

'That #WHCD was pathetic,' Palin tweeted. 'The rest of America is out there working our asses off while these DC assclowns throw themselves a #nerdprom.'

Critics note that Palin had attended a number of White House Correspondents' Dinner after-parties last year and in 2009 she declined an invitation at the last minute, electing to send her husband Todd in her place. Guests assumed she may have anticipated a humiliating public ribbing and bailed out.

The dinner was hosted this year by Irish American comedian Conan O’Brien, but the surprise hit of the party turned out to be the president himself.

'These days I look in the mirror and have to admit, I’m not the strapping young Muslim Socialist that I used to be,' Obama said, mocking the fondest beliefs of the radical conservative fringe.

But Palin was beside herself as the event wound up, using a high school taunt on Twitter to dub the event a 'nerd prom.'

Palin was not invited to the event this year, which some suggest may have colored her scathing response.
