Bill Maher is not dead, but that’s only because God is merciful, according to conservative Christian radio host Bryan Fischer.

Fischer claims it’s a wonder that Maher is still drawing breath after his epic rant about the cruelty of God and the utter stupidity of religious rules on his Real Time HBO Show last week.

Maher was discussing actor Russell Crowe’s forthcoming bible epic "Noah," the tale of how God, repulsed by human wickedness, once drowned all living creatures on the earth to start over again.

In a blistering commentary Maher mocked the 60% of Americans who literally believe the flood really happened, saying that the fact they do so makes clear that the United States is a stupid country.

The God of the Old Testament is a “psychotic mass murderer,” Maher claimed.

Maher was inspired to make his comments after seeing what he called “one too many ads” for Crowe’s already controversial new movie "Noah." Sounding exasperated, the HBO host asked his audience: “Isn’t life hard enough without making s--t up out of thin air to f—k with yourself?”

That question drove Fischer, America’s most provocative moral watchdog, to claim that only God’s benevolence stood between the Irish American pundit and his sudden end.

Maher is unlikely to be impressed by Fischer’s claims. Previously he has stated: “We are a nation that is unenlightened because of religion. I do believe that. I think religion stops people from thinking. I think it justified crazies.”
