The staff of the Polish Embassy in Dublin thanked the Irish people for ten years of a warm welcome with a short video, showing off their Irish language skills and their sense of humor. The video marked the 10th anniversary of Poland’s accession to the European Union.

According to the 2011 census, Ireland is now home to 120,000 Polish people. Ireland now has the third highest number of Polish migrants in the world and Polish is the second most widely spoken language in Ireland, after English.

The YouTube video, entirely in Irish, includes a description, which states, “The staff of the Polish Embassy in Dublin wish to convey our gratitude to the Irish people for the openness and kindness they have shown to Poles in Ireland over the past decade... and also for all the joys that the Emerald Isle has to offer!”

The video begins with the Polish ambassador Martin Nawrot speaking from his office saying, “Dia dhaoibh go léir.”

The ambassador, speaking in Irish, says, “On behalf of all the Poles in Ireland we thank the Irish people for your welcome.”

It continues with light-hearted gibes about Ireland’s sport, culture, food and weather.

It closes with the staff shouting, “Go raibh míle maith agat a mhuintir na hÉireann,” meaning, “Thank you very much people of Ireland.”

Here’s the video:

Here’s the Irish transcript from the video:

Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir, a mhuintir na hÉireann!

I mí Bealtaine na bliana seo beimid ag ceiliúradh deich mbliana de cheapadh na Polainne mar bhall den Aontas Eorpach.

Is mian linn in Ambasáid na Polainne i mBaile Átha Cliath, ár mbuíochas a chur in iúl do mhuintir na hÉireann mar gheall ar an oscailteacht agus an cineáltas a léiríodh do Pholannaigh in Éirinn le deich mbliana anuas, agus as an sólás atá ar fáil dúinn san "Oileán Glas" !

Féach, le do thoil, ar an scannán seo, a rinne Ambasáid na Polainne i mBaile Átha Cliath, agus beidh a fhios agat conas a théann taidhleoirí na Polainne i ngleic le dúshláin a bhaineann leis an nGaeilge!”
