This week’s curator for the @Ireland Twitter account, Conor Neylan, will accompany Ireland’s President, Michael D Higgins, on his historical Irish State visit to Britain. The @Ireland Twitter account is managed by Irish Central since we took over WorldIrish.com.
Conor Neylan is Strategic Communications Advisor at the British Embassy in Dublin. In his current role, he works on UK-Irish relations and is an advocate for public and digital diplomacy.
On the @Ireland account he explained he would travel to “Windsor tomorrow [Tuesday] morning for the official welcome and then to @UKParliament for a very historic speech.”
He also retweeted a tweet by the @BritishMonarch, “as Gaelige”, welcoming the Irish to Britain.

Neylan, based in Dublin, with roots in Galway and Armagh is personally interested in the cross between identities, place and cultural affiliations, which makes him an ideal fit for the @Ireland project.
The @Ireland Twitter account rotates each week with a new voice introduced every Monday morning. As the Ireland of today is not confined to the island of Ireland, the varied voices of @Ireland come from Ireland and across the world.
@Ireland is based around the idea that a single voice cannot represent a country. By sharing people's experiences and lives with the world, project custodians WorldIrish believe @Ireland can help to further connect Ireland to the world and the world to Ireland through the different voices that curate the account each week.
