Trump, speaking on Newstalk radio, on Thursday morning, explained his presidential ambitions. He said “We’re going to make a big announcement on the 16th of June." He promised the revelation would be “very dramatic” and would “make a lot of people happy.”
The Republican Party hopeful has been polling well among primary voters in the state of New Hampshire, which is often decisive in the national contest during the election. Trump came third in a new opinion poll with particularly strong support in “households with firearms.”
Trump told the Irish radio show, “We’re going to have a wild time because the United States should be doing much better than it’s doing.”
When asked to expand on these problems he spoke of an unreasonably high “real unemployment” rate, Obamacare being “a disaster” and said the military needed to be “rebuilt and restocked.”
He said, “We really have problems in the United States. Big problems. Whether it's terrorism, whether it's wars – nothing goes right.”
When host Ivan Yates asked Trump what he thought of the Democratic Party’s front-runner Hillary Clinton he said he expected her to get the nomination but said "she’s got a lot of problems," referring to the recent email controversy.
In March 2015 “The Apprentice” billionaire host formed an exploratory committee as he considered a run for the White House. He also considered a presidential bid in 2012.
Ivanka Trump, his daughter, spoke to CNBC's "Closing Bell" on Wednesday saying she'd be very lucky if her father ran for president of the United States.
She said, “I would support him and encourage him wholeheartedly.
"I have the unique perspective of being by his side every day and understanding how incredibly capable and just what an amazing visionary he is. As a citizen, it would be amazing if he makes that decision."
Donald Trump plans to visit some of his other hotels in Europe before traveling back to the United States for June 16 for his dramatic announcement.
Also this week it was announced by NBC network insiders, via the New York Post, that if Trump does announce his plans to run for the presidency he can no longer remain on as host of “The Apprentice.” The show, which attracted 6.1 million viewers for its season seven finale, may see Ivanka, Donald Jr. or Eric Trump, all Donald Trump’s children, as the replacement host.
Trump (68), is best known as the host of the TV show “The Apprentice,” and his strong “birther” campaign against President Barack Obama.
Last February Trump strengthened his ties with Ireland by purchasing the Doonbeg resort, in County Clare, and renaming it “Trump International Hotel & Golf Links, Ireland.” In May 2014 Trump was in the Irish news for a far stranger reason – the surreal and slightly royal treatment he was given arriving at Shannon Airport, greeted by the Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan, and traditional Irish musicians. Even Trump jetting in on his private yet seemed confused.
