Kevin Vickers, Canada’s recently instated Ambassador to Ireland and the hero of the tragic Parliament Hill shooting in October, is now on Twitter.

Vickers, 58, began his term as Ambassador last Wednesday after being sworn in by President Michael D. Higgins and greeted by Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs Charlie Flanagan.

In an effort to engage in a little digital diplomacy, he joined the social media outlet Twitter on Tuesday. You can now keep up with Ambassador Vickers via @KVickers.

His inaugural tweet expressed his happiness to be in Ireland - the homeland of his ancestors until they departed for Canada in 1826:

Delighted to be in Dublin. My relatives left this Country in 1826 - now we are back!!
