Police discover human remains in two sites while searching for Catherine Gowing

Police in North Wales have been searching for Offaly born vet, Catherine Gowing (37) since she was reported missing on October 15th. They have now discovered human remains at two sites.

Clive Sharp, a 46-year-old man, with no fixed address, from Gwynedd, north Wales, has since been charged with her murder.

On Wednesday a search team discovered human remains in a shallow pool, in a field, in Sealand, Deeside.

Again on Friday remains were discovered by an off-duty police officers, close to the river Dee, in Higher Ferry, Chester.

A North Wales police spokesman said “North Wales police search team officers, who were deployed nearby in the continuing search for Catherine Gowing, were alerted to the discovery and co-ordinated the response and recovery.

"The human remains have been recovered and the immediate scene secured pending a forensic examination and further detailed search.

"The human remains will be subject of a post-mortem and forensic examination to determine formal identification."

Authorities are continuing to carry out tests on the remains discovered on Wednesday.

Sharp has been charged with murder and was remanded in custody until 7 January when he is due to enter his plea.
