The family of Nicola Furlong, the young Irish woman brutally murdered in Japan, are planning to sue the hotel in Tokyo where she was murdered.
Returning to Ireland this week from the trial and conviction in Japan, which resulted in the maximum ten year sentence, the Furlongs told the press they plan to take a civil action for negligence against the Keio Plaza Hotel.
Nineteen-year-old American Richard Hinds was convicted of her murder on Tuesday and sentenced to 5-10 years in jail.
According to the Irish Examiner, during his trial the court heard how staff at the hotel assisted Hinds putting Furlong into a wheelchair, while she was completely unconscious after her drink was spiked.
The Furlongs were reportedly furious to discover that Hinds will be eligible for parole in five years, if he maintains good behavior.
