Facebook originally refused to acceded to such reasonable police requests, which suprised some of us. Obviously, they weren't fully au fait with the occupational hazards of the laws of evidence in common law jurisdictions. Trial could well have been prejudiced by intemperate commentary by such virtual lynch mobs.
