The new Guinness ad “Made of More,” called “breathtaking” by Huffington Post. already has 3.5 million views on YouTube despite the fact that it is not released officially until today.
The video ad shows a group of male buddies playing basketball but the twist at the end has become a major talking point.
Huffington Post writer Sarah Barness wrote, “We don't often give advertisers free promotion, but this Guinness commercial had us utterly captivated.” The story was headlined “Surprising Guinness commercial will make your heart melt.”
Barness wrote, “Created by BBDO New York, the ad features a group of wheelchair basketball players.. with an unexpected twist at the end.
“Watch it for yourself and be prepared for some serious heartstring-pulling at the end. Let's just say that it's not your average beer commercial.”
A commentator on You Tube Lisa Hanna wrote, “Our pastor showed this one in church this morning. His sermon was on "the choices we make defining our character". No one even cared that it was a beer commercial...the message was so much bigger than that....”
Other comments included, “Best Commercial ever,” and “This is up there with Super bowl commercials.”
The commercial is first in a series of “Made of More” themed ads highlighting individual accomplishments for those who help others.
